What is ECO4?

ECO 4 is is a government energy-efficiency scheme Government funding, designed to tackle fuel poverty and help reduce carbon emissions. This funding can be used for different measures to make your home more energy efficient, such as external wall insulation, loft insulation, thermal radiator valves and hives.

Do I qualify?

ECO4 focuses on improving the least energy efficient homes and households in fuel poverty, as only properties in bands D-G can be treated. You can check your current EPC rating by going to www.gov.uk/find-energy-certificate.

The other eligibility factor for this scheme is that one person in the property must receive any of the benefits listed below.

  • Pension credit

  • Income Support

  • Universal Credit

  • Housing Benefit

  • Income based Job Seekers Allowance

  • Income related Employment & Support Allowance

  • Child Benefit (Child benefit route has certain income thresholds, our team can give more information around this)

  • Tax Credits (Child or Working)

What is GBIS?

GBIS is partial funding that is available to homeowners or private renters looking to save money by becoming more energy efficient. To qualify for insulation, you'll need to own your own home, and your council tax band is between A and E with an EPC rating of D or lower.  You can check your council tax band  by going to https://www.gov.uk/council-tax-bands.

How much do I need to pay?

How much you pay is dependent upon what funding stream you apply through. ECO4 is a fully funded grant, whereas GBIS can be up to a 50% funding contribution.

What is External Wall Insulation?

External wall insulation is the process of insulating your home by applying insulation to the external walls.

If your home was built before the 1930s, then you might have solid walls that need insulation.  External wall insulation involves fixing a layer of insulation to the wall, then covering all the wall surfaces with a special type of render.

External wall insulation is the most cost-effective form of insulation for solid walls where there is no cavity between the walls that can be filled.

What are the benefits?

  • Save Money - You'll significantly cut down on your energy bills.

  • Boost in Property Value - Elevate your home's market worth.

  • A Warmer home - Experience the luxury of an energy efficient home.

  • Improve the appearance of your home

  • Prevent damp

  • Help the global carbon footprint.
